Okay, fine. No, the title of my next book will not be "We're All Getting Tattoos and Helping Fight AIDS." We don't all have to get tattooed, but we can if we want because I've enlisted the services of Leslie Mah Tattoo to do some work on the main character of my next novel. Which character is this? Kyra Armijo.
That's right, Jason Vanderholt's wayward niece is stepping up to take the lead of her own novel, and is getting inked, for real. And you can too, because that tattoo that Leslie's designing? It'll be printed up as temporary tattoos, so we can all wear Kyra's tattoo.
What is the tattoo of? What's the significance? All in good time. I actually want to take this announcement in a different direction, the fighting AIDS direction. Leslie won't let me pay her. She's mean like that, but she happens to be raising money for AIDS LifeCycle. Here's the post from her personal LifeCycle page:
I'm Riding to End AIDS, again!
I signed up yet again! Having my community support me on this ride makes me feel like a super hero, one that actually saves lives. Please support my fundraising for HIV/AIDS services and research. Thank you!So as you can see, Leslie is a giver, and I've donated to her LifeCycle Fund. Now I'm asking fans to consider doing the same. It doesn't have to be a lot. This is crowdsource funding. Drop in a dollar or five and help my cousin (er... yes, did I not mention that? Leslie's also my first cousin) raise money for HIV and AIDS research.
From June 2-8, 2013, I'm bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.
Help me support AIDS/LifeCycle by giving what you can. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.
She and I have already discussed ideas for the tattoo, but the details will be revealed at a later date, along with other details like the release date of the book (likely October or November) and the title (current working title, BREAK IT UP). And yes, I had originally planned to do the next FAIRYTALE installment next, but that would be my third sequel in a row, so I'm going to write Kyra's novel, which will be a stand alone, and then the next FAIRYTALE book directly afterwards.
To donate to Leslie's LifeCycle Fund, click here, you'll support a good cause, and a good person (not that I'm biased in the least ;-)
